The Career Of Carey Price
Recently I saw that Carey Price was gonna be out for the whole season and quite possibly could be done permanently. After seeing this, I proceeded to read some of the tweets from the media and the public. There was definitely a general theme brewing (as things do on social media), and it was basically based around “how will he be remembered” and “where does he rank among the greats”.
The reason I felt like writing about Carey on my blog today, was not because I want to pick apart and dissect his career. It’s actually because of these comments.
I am coming from a different angle. I know what it’s like personally, to come to a crossroads in your career, and that feeling of uncertainty on which path you are gonna take. You can also be overly critical of yourself and put doubt in your mind about your overall self worth. I can only imagine how it must feel when you have the whole hockey world judging you to this magnitude.
I really hope that Carey focuses his energy around his family and the people that love him as a person and not just a hockey player. It’s from this place that he can gather some real strength, make the decisions he needs to make moving forward, and feel good about what he decides.
If this is the last we see of Carey Price on the ice, I consider myself lucky to have watched him play. Simple as that. At the height of his career he was the best in world, but even more importantly, he did so much for the position and the youngsters watching him. He brought a way of playing the game that truly influenced so many:) That’s a career to be proud of for sure.
Have a great week everyone!
Peace,
